We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. Joining our high-performing team, you will play a crucial role in gathering and interpreting geotechnical information. This critical work supports the development and implementation of effective strata control processes, ensuring that stakeholders have the necessary data to maintain safe mine operations. Your expertise will contribute directly to the safety and efficiency of our mining activities, making you an essential part of our mission to uphold the highest standards in mining safety.

The role:

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, the Geotechnical Engineer will ensure that geotechnical data is gathered and interpreted accurately to implement effective geotechnical controls. Your efforts will be pivotal in delivering maximum benefit to the operation, optimising both safety and efficiency in our mining activities. In this role you will be responsible for:

Completing geotechnical inspections accurately and in a timely manner
Identifying and communicating geotechnical hazards
Implement and maintaining geotechnical monitoring systems and updates on all geotechnical monitoring databases and plans
Stay across technological advancements in the industry and how they may benefit the operation
About you: Experience in and comprehensive understanding of open cut coal mining
Experience in Maptek laser scanners and software will be highly regarded
Practical experience in the operation of UAV's with remote pilot licence
Experience in using ground probe radar monitoring systems will be highly regarded
Ability to build and foster strong working relationships across multiple departments and organisational levels
Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering or similar relevant experience
