Geospatial and Data Sharing Lead – Suncorp Control Centre 12-Month Fixed Term ContractAbout the role: The Suncorp Control Centre (SCC) Geospatial and Data Sharing Lead plays a critical role within Suncorp's Disaster Management Centre of Excellence, which aims to deliver industry-leading disaster management and resilience strategies through the integration of cutting-edge geospatial technologies and data-sharing practices.
This role is instrumental in operationalising Suncorp Control Centre across frontline teams and enhancing our ability to prepare, respond, and recover from severe weather events.
More specifically, you will: Develop and implement geospatial strategies aligned with organisational objectives, focusing on enhancing spatial analysis capabilities and facilitating data sharing initiatives.Evaluate geospatial technologies and tools for their suitability in various applications, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.Establish and maintain data sharing agreements with internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and promoting the exchange of geospatial data.Coordinate cross-functional teams to integrate geospatial data into decision-making processes and operational workflows, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with data governance principles.Participate in proof-of-concept initiatives to support the strategic program of work, exploring innovative uses of geospatial technology to address organizational challenges.Support the development and implementation of geospatial strategies aligned with organizational goals, ensuring effective governance and integration across departments.Operationalise geospatial technology across disaster management processes, leveraging spatial analysis and data sharing to enhance response and mitigation efforts.Lead the delivery of strategic disaster mitigation and data sharing programs, driving innovation through participation in proof of concepts and collaboration with vendors.Conduct spatial modelling and simulation exercises to identify high-risk areas and vulnerabilities, informing disaster preparedness plans and mitigation strategies.Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies related to geospatial analysis and data sharing and implement innovative solutions to drive continuous improvement in operational effectiveness.About You: Bachelor's degree in geography, geomatics, GIS, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.Project Management or Business Analysis Certification/qualification (desired)Experience: Proven track record in project management, including the delivery of strategic initiatives and participation in proof of concepts to drive innovation.Strong proficiency in spatial modelling and simulation techniques, with the ability to conduct spatial analysis to identify high-risk areas and vulnerabilities.Experience in evaluating geospatial technologies and tools, with knowledge of data governance principles and regulatory requirements.Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.Analytical problem-solving abilities, with a focus on leveraging geospatial technology to enhance disaster preparedness and response efforts.Key Capabilities: Proficiency in geospatial technologies and GIS software, including spatial modelling, simulation and analysis techniques and, data visualisation tools.Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead strategic initiatives and drive innovation through participation in proof of concepts.Experience in operationalizing geospatial technology across disaster management processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain data sharing agreements, facilitating collaboration and promoting the exchange of geospatial data among stakeholders.Experience in data governance and compliance, particularly related to geospatial data, ensuring initiatives adhere to legal and regulatory standards.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with analytical problem-solving abilities, to facilitate collaboration and overcome challenges encountered in geospatial analysis and data sharing initiatives.Ability to conduct spatial analysis to identify high-risk areas and vulnerabilities, informing strategic decision-making in disaster preparedness and response.Ability to create interactive and intuitive data visualisations using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or ArcGIS Online to communicate complex geospatial and AI-driven insights effectively to stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making and situational awareness.What we can offer you: Discounts and offers on a range of insurance productsA range of flexible working and leave options, including 20 weeks paid parental leave, 4 weeks secondary carer parental leave, and unlimited paid emergency response leave.Invest in your brighter future with ongoing study support and career development programs.Give back to our communities with payroll giving, donation matching and paid volunteer leave.Prioritise your work/life balance with our robust employee assistance program and dedicated employee council.Advertised: 25 Oct 2024 AUS Eastern Daylight Time
