Environmental, Earth & Geosciences (Science & Technology) Full time Nature Advisory is an employee-owned ecological consultancy, providing flora and fauna assessments for projects such as residential development and renewable energy projects.
With the rapid growth of our organisation, we are seeking a skilled Geospatial Analyst to join us as the technical lead for our GIS team.
The GIS team currently comprises four GIS Analysts and supports a team of 70+ Botanists, Zoologists and Project Managers across Victoria, NSW, Queensland and Tasmania to collect, map and maintain geospatial data.
The ideal candidate would have minimum 4 years' experience working in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and working knowledge of the Esri Suite (including ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro).
This role presents an opportunity for someone who has gained experience working in a mid-level role and is ready to take on more significant responsibilities.
You will be leading the GIS team to execute the technical aspects of GIS projects including preparing GIS outputs (e.g.
cartographic maps), manipulating spatial data and providing technical GIS support to our other teams.
You will also be leading the development of GIS solutions to support cross-collaboration with our other teams' workflows, as well as internal systems within the GIS team to support our GIS Analysts in their workflows and spatial data management.
This role is a permanent full-time position within Nature Advisory based in Hawthorn East, Melbourne.
A permit to work in Australia is essential.
Key Responsibilities and Objectives Lead the development of the GIS team's internal systems to ensure effective and timely delivery of ecological mapping outputs Lead the management and improvement of our spatial data management systems Develop and implement GIS standards and procedures/protocols Provide quality control for spatial data management and GIS outputs Remain up-to-date with GIS software and data capture tools Support automation and GIS programming using coding Provide troubleshooting support for ESRI software and the ArcGIS Field Maps app Manage GIS subscriptions (such as ESRI and Nearmap) and cloud-based databases Assist with spatial tasks in ArcGIS Pro such as spatial data manipulation and cartographic mapping Skills & Qualifications Tertiary qualification in GIS or a related field with minimum 4 years' work experience Work experience at an (ideally ecological) consultancy Strong working knowledge of GIS tools and the ESRI Suite (must include ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise favourable) Knowledge of spatial mapping related to ecological surveys (e.g.
