Position Description: Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RVTS) is a vocational training program for medical practitioners in communities throughout remote and rural Australia. As a targeted recruitment location, training is fully funded by the Australian Government and the four-year training program is delivered by Distance Education and Remote Supervision to Fellowship of the ACRRM and/or RACGP.
The General Practitioner will provide direct GP services to a growing client group and will assist with leadership based on the organisation model of care. The General Practitioner will also play a pivotal role in:
Clinical Governance – participation and continuous improvement of high-quality service delivery models.Service Development – support organisational growth and the development of the medical workforce, including supervision and support for GP Registrars and Medical students if certified/qualified.Medicare Income – provide sound and high-level clinical care and increasing Medicare Income e.g., 715, 721 and 723.Selection Criteria: Ability to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and knowledge of the health issues affecting these people.Understanding of Clinical Governance.Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments, plan, implement, and evaluate clinical care and primary health care strategies.Ability to lead and motivate a team of health professionals.Understanding of the processes of embedding continuous quality improvement into clinic practice through implementing regular auditing.Strong interpersonal skills.Knowledge and experience in the Medicare Benefits Schedule and its application in the ATSICCHS setting.Technology competence.Qualifications & Experience: Qualified Medical Practitioner, holding unconditional current registration with AHPRA.Eligible for unrestricted Medicare Provider Number.Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity towards the social, economic, and cultural factors affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's health.Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) – essential.Satisfactory police check – no serious Criminal/Court record.Current Blue Card (working with children and young people) or willingness to apply for a Blue Card.Willingness to work flexible hours as required, including the requirement to travel (by road and small plane), work and stay overnight in remote areas.Job Type: Permanent
