PHO's/REGISTRARS - GENERAL MEDICINE | EAST COAST AUSTRALIA | 12+ MONTH CONTRACTSChallis Recruitment is currently recruiting for our Queensland based client for PHO's/Registrars in General medicine to join their busy Medicine department.Fast Facts:Overseas doctors welcome are encouraged to applyA progressive, innovative, multicultural cityMajor training location located on the East CoastOne of Queensland's largest clinical teaching and research facilitiesExcellent Remuneration packageGrowing location with excellent schooling options The Position:To provide clinical care under supervision and acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfy relevant specialist college and medical board requirements in order to practice as a specialist.The Medical Registrar Unit supports and oversees trainee Registrars and Principal House Officers with their administrative and educational needs across the Hospital and Health Service.Your responsibilities: Provide inpatient and outpatient care by:Assessing patients, determining and instigating appropriate investigations.Establishing management plans for patients in consultation with the consultant.Where appropriate, ensure discharge planning commences early in the process of care (inpatients only).Communicating assessment findings, proposed management plans and alternatives to patient and carers and seek consent.Gathering input from the appropriate multidisciplinary team for patient's ongoing clinical care.Continually monitor and review patient progress and adjust the management plan when necessary.Ensure appropriate and timely communication to the General Practitioner, other health care providers and carers to ensure ongoing patient care.The Hospital:They are located in their new 1.76 billion dollar University Hospital, one of Queensland's largest clinical teaching and research facilities, with seven main buildings and a total floor space of about 170,000 square metres.Their emergency department continues to be one of the busiest in Queensland.The facility's design is efficient and allows for expansion to meet the growing health needs of the Gold Coast, one of the fastest growing regions in Australia.Medicine Unit:The Acute Medical Unit provides direct, expert clinical care to all acute medical services within an inpatient setting, services include, but are not limited to cardiac, respiratory, endocrine, aged care and neurology.The General Medicine Unit (GMU) provides care to general medicine and acute care patients presenting to Emergency and elderly patients.The 24 bed unit has:16 single rooms3 double rooms3 work stations1 clean utility room2 dirty utility rooms4 offices2 storage rooms1 treatment room.The Location:The area is one of the world's most desirable destinations; a subtropical paradise with over 40 kilometres of world renowned beaches and beautiful rainforest hinterland surrounding Australia's sixth largest city.
