General/Business Unit Manager (CEO & General Management) Full time

The Council area incorporates the townships of Warramboo, Kyancutta, Yaninee, Minnipa with Wudinna being the main service centre. Wudinna is located on the Eyre Highway, 565kms (approx. 5.5 hours) west of Adelaide. The local industries include wheat and sheep farming, tourism and small businesses.
Wudinna District Council has a close knit and welcoming team of 22 people, with every member valued by Council and the local communities.
Reporting to the CEO, and assisted by a capable team, this critically important role will effectively manage and supervise the infrastructure and assets dispersed throughout the community. The key responsibilities will include:
Roads management of 1,567kms unsealed and sealed roadways Preparation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the Department's annual budget Preparation of costs and managing projects associated with private works contracts Monitoring and reviewing the department's operational practices, systems and service outcomes Developing strategic responses and managing programs, strategies and policies that address existing and emerging infrastructure issues Managing major infrastructure projects Monitoring, managing and reviewing operational practices and systems for the district's aerodromes Supervising the infrastructure and assets dispersed throughout the community Ensuring compliance with Council's Risk Management and WHS Management systems Ideally possessing a relevant qualification or experience in civil engineering construction and/or maintenance, the work is dynamic and fast paced, requiring strong collaborative leadership, strategic planning skills, and a comprehensive understanding of infrastructure management.
Well developed communication skills, computer literacy and a commitment to living and sharing Council's Values, you will be analytical and enjoy problem solving, whilst delivering great customer service to your stakeholders and the community.
Local government experience is preferred but not essential. Prior experience living and working in a remote/rural community will help ensure success and longevity in this challenging role.
