We have an exciting opportunity for a senior Tenures and Access leader. Reporting to the CEO – Australia, the General Manager - Tenures, Access and External Relations provides leadership to the Tenures and Access functions to support Tri-Star's Australian Petroleum & Coal, Minerals and CSG Foundation Assets Divisions to create value for our shareholders.
Either through management of expert consultants, or through prior experience, this role also provides strategic advice on emerging political, policy, regulatory, media and stakeholder issues impacting the Tri-Star business, directly and indirectly, as well as being responsible for the development and execution of an External Affairs strategy to maximise opportunities and mitigate risks to Tri-Star.
This is primarily a Brisbane office-based role, with occasional domestic travel to regional and metropolitan areas to engage with government, landholders, and traditional owner groups.
General Responsibilities: Leadership & Strategy Develop, coach and mentor the members of the Tenures and Access Team. Promote and implement Tri-Star's safety management policy. Support and implement organisational decisions and policies as a senior leader. Identify and champion opportunities to improve business practices and create shareholder value.Live and promote the Tri-Star values in all internal and external interactions. Prepare the annual budgets and multi-year forecasts for Government and Public Affairs (GPA) and Land and Tenure (L&T) activities. Tenures Provide leadership and support to the Tenures Manager and Tenures Team.Develop and maintain tenure maturation plans for all assets in the Australian Petroleum & Coal Division and Minerals Division. Support business development opportunities through high quality due diligence advice and the drafting of bids or applications for new land.Active management of Tri-Star's tenements to reduce costs and maximise project opportunities. Ensure compliance with Tri-Star's regulatory obligations for tenements. Access Provide leadership and support to the Access Manager.Develop and oversee the implementation of strategies for Land Access, Native Title, Cultural Heritage and Environment for all assets in the Australian Petroleum & Coal Division and Minerals Division.Oversee the management of existing Land Access and Native Title agreements. Maintain and implement Tri-Star's Environmental Management Policy. Ensure compliance with Tri-Star's regulatory obligations for Access. External Affairs Either through expert consultants, or through prior experience: Develop an annual External Affairs strategy to support business objectives and to grow Tri-Star's brand. The strategy should cover, political stakeholders, senior public servants, opinion leaders and media and potential commercial counterparts. Monitor policy announcements and media for political risks and opportunities. Manage Tri-Star's active involvement in industry associations (including Australian Energy Producers, South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy, Association of Mining and Exploration Companies and the Queensland Resources Council. Oversee Tri-Star's industry and community sponsorships.Oversee Tri-Star's active participation in relevant conferences. Prepare submissions and advocacy plans in response to regulatory issues that pose risks or present opportunities to Tri-Star. Prepare media releases, publications, website material, LinkedIn posts and other external material to achieve the objectives of the External Affairs strategy. Support internal and external communication by the CEO - Australia and other members of the Tri-Star team.Participate in the Incident Management Team (IMT) as the External Affairs subject matter expert. Implement the brand guidelines and maintain corporate templates. What you bring to the role: Essential Relevant tertiary qualification in Policy, Business, Law or similar.10+ years' relevant experience in Tenures & Access Thorough understanding and experience in resources, working in the extractive industry.Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.Experience in managing the delivery of all work allocated in a timely, cost effective, efficient, and accurate manner.Highly organised and adaptable. Desired but not essential Relevant tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Policy or similar.Experience in government relations, media, industry or stakeholder roles.
