Job Description The General Manager (GM), Social Change plays a key role in developing and executing the GDN/CFEH Social Change Strategy, with a strong focus on developing campaigns, digital media, community education and activation, policy and research.
This is a Maternity leave cover for 9 months on a fixed term full time contract.  Individuals who identify as having lived experience with blindness or low vision are highly encouraged to apply. 
Key Accountabilities: Keep abreast of policy developments, gather relevant information, and provide a timely synthesis and analysis on those policy developments and how these translate to campaigns and community activation initiatives. Prepare a range of written materials including policy papers, press releases, opinion pieces, and other relevant documentation. Work closely with international, national, and local organisations, including through formal and informal coalitions. Advise and lead emerging advocacy and campaign opportunities. Monitor, activate and build the presence of people with low vision or blindness on social media and work with the Marketing team to generate proactive and reactive social media on campaign issues. Develop an advocacy and education strategy that is aligned with GDN, Guide Dogs Australia (GDA) and other functional strategies. Work with internal teams and agency partners to identify and maximise external communications including digital campaigns and opportunities. Build and leverage our volunteer and supporter activation communities to support advocacy and education goals. The provision of annual performance reviews with staff as required. Work closely with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board. A relevant tertiary qualification such as communications, marketing, law, public policy, political science, or international relations. Experience at an Executive level in a similar role engaging in systematic advocacy and campaign work and strategic engagement to influence societal change. Experience in the management, leadership, and development of staff. Lived experience of low vision and blindness / disability. Experience in working with people from diverse backgrounds, with a demonstrated commitment to the principles of Not-for-Profit organisations.
