General/Business Unit Manager (CEO & General Management)Full TimeHillarys Yacht Club (HYC), The Premier Club On The Coast, seeks an experienced General Manager to lead the HYC team into an exciting future. With a new strategic plan recently endorsed and implemented, a motivated General Manager has a pathway to lead the Club into its next phase.The Club comprises several distinct business divisions of which the General Manager will lead and develop under the guidance and support of the Club's Management Committee. This highly regarded club was established in 1986 and comprises a Boat Marina, Boat Lifting Services Yard, Restaurants, Bars, and multiple function rooms and has a membership in excess of 2000 people. HYC, with its spectacular ocean and harbour views, offers great dining and function experiences.The RoleReporting to the Commodore and the Management Committee, the General Manager will:Implement and drive forward the HYC strategic planLead and oversee all Club finances and finance teamDrive Club membership growth, retention, and financial goalsProvide dynamic leadership and motivation for the HYC team of approximately 50 peopleDirectly oversee all department managers inclusive of:Finance ManagerBusiness Development ManagerFood and Beverage ManagerMarina and Infrastructure ManagerHillarys Marina Lifting Service ManagerPersonal AssistantEnsure exemplary levels of member service and satisfactionRepresent HYC both inside and outside the Club in a professional mannerEstablish and maintain structures and processes that effectively deliver quality services to all who use the Club facilitiesAdminister Club policies on a day-to-day basisEnsure that all business, compliance, insurance, and legislative requirements are met within the ClubEnsure a culture of achieving and maintaining a high standard of work performanceDevelop and review governance and other policies and a risk management framework and culture that ensures compliance across all areas of HYC Sections and activitiesManagement and maintenance of all HYC owned assets and equipmentDrive efficient and effective marketing supporting HYC membership and participation growthComplete other administrative functions as directed by the Commodore and Committees, ensuring compliance with all Club policies, Constitution, Bylaws, and Club operating and administrative proceduresThe successful candidate will be required to have a strong understanding of all operational divisions of the Club and show high levels of leadership and performance. Applicants must have the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, professional environment and will need a strong work ethic and the ability to multitask. The General Manager must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse team of employees and members.The General Manager is required to attend and assist the chair at multiple committee meetings, providing parties with precise and meaningful reporting on the Club and Club activities. Some after-hours and/or weekend work is required from time to time as needed to complete the role.Qualifications & ExperienceProven high performance General Manager experience in similar industries, clubs or other related roles as deemed appropriate is essentialTertiary qualifications in business management or similar desirableExpertise in Food and Beverage OperationsFinancial acumen and reporting skillsAbility to create and lead high performance teamsSuperior written and verbal communication skillsStrong business development and marketing knowledgeHold Approved Managers RSA TicketPrior experience working in a Club environment will be viewed favourablyNational Police Clearance and Working with Children Certificate desirableApplicationFor more information, please phone the Club on 08 9246 2833.
