General/Business Unit Manager (CEO & General Management)Full timeThe General Manager has full operational and P&L responsibility for PowerTarps, managing all staff, customer and supplier relationships, while working with others in the group to execute the business plan to grow the business. Sister company DuraTec makes bespoke truck curtains for various applications in the same premises.Website: www.powertarps.com.auKey ResponsibilitiesWorkshop & Customer Service leadershipLead the workshop staff to continue to be the best in the business.Develop staff skills and maintain a culture of high performance, comradery and contentment.Ensure the customer remains at the centre of what we do and that the staff provide excellent customer service.Technical oversight of each area of the business and be a sounding board on technical questions for staff and customers.Oversight of ordering / inventory management to ensure business never runs out.Business GrowthWork with CEO, former MD and other team members on selling PowerTarps products and services to underserviced markets & clients.Proactively assess and recommend initiatives to grow revenue and profitability – e.g. through better sourcing, new re-seller partnerships, product modifications, new verticals, better staffing, etc.Responsibility for profitability including through efficient scheduling, pricing reviews, cost management, upselling etc.Ensure that staff utilise appropriate software to keep accurate records and allow us to track key performance indicators (KPIs).Monitor KPIs and make or suggest improvements.HRFoster a positive and collaborative work culture that aligns with the company's values and continues to produce top tier results.Lead the recruitment, development and retention of workshop staff that live the values of the business.Stakeholder ManagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.Ensure prudent safety measures are implemented and followed to minimise injuries to staff, customers and visitors.Work with other parts of the organisation and the shareholders in areas such as sourcing, marketing, sales, finance and M&A.Candidate RequirementsProven track record in working in or with high performing organisations.Mechanical aptitude / able to pick up technical concepts.Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.Independent, ambitious, self-motivated, but low ego.Able to work with multi-cultural and socio-economically diverse staff and customers.Willingness to travel inter-state and to NZ occasionally as needed.Your application will include the following questions:Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in Australia?How many years' experience do you have as a general manager?Do you have customer service experience?
