As the largest processor of organic macadamias in Australia and a processor of premium macadamias, we're seeking an experienced and motivated General Manager to lead all aspects of our business, from processing to value-adding and retail. The ideal candidate will bring fresh ideas, strong financial management skills, and expertise in building effective business processes and technology infrastructure to support scalability and profitability.As General Manager, you will oversee the entire supply chain—from working with growers to processing, value-adding, warehousing, and retail sales. You will also be responsible for developing new business processes, such as inventory management and warehousing systems, and implementing technology solutions that support growth and operational efficiencies. Collaborating with the Board, floor managers, and sales teams, you will expand our wholesale and retail businesses, lead the launch of new products, and grow the profitability of the business.The General Manager will play a pivotal role in the successful launch of a new retail brand in mid-2025. We are looking for a natural leader with a strong background in business operations, human resources, finance, and communications, who can motivate teams, manage multi-functional processes, and foster an environment of collaboration and continuous improvement.Key Responsibilities:Take full responsibility for executing the company's strategic direction as set by the Board, ensuring operations align with business goals and aggressive sales targets.Develop and implement new business processes that enhance efficiency and scalability, including robust inventory and warehousing management.Drive the expansion of wholesale and retail sales, including online sales through e-commerce platforms like Shopify and social media.Lead the implementation of technology solutions to support business growth and operational efficiency, collaborating closely with the admin team.Manage the maintenance and repair of the company's macadamia processing and ancillary machinery.Oversee the end-to-end supply chain, from farmer relationships to processing, value-adding, packaging, and warehousing.Collaborate with the Board of Directors, factory floor managers, sales teams, dispatch, and finance to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and continuous improvement.Ensure compliance with all statutory and other relevant occupational health and safety protocols.Develop, implement, and manage budgets and financial strategies to grow the business's profitability, ensuring aggressive sales targets are met or exceeded.Manage relationships with contractors and ensure the maintenance of factory equipment and spare part inventories.Lead weekly staff meetings to review operational updates, discuss upcoming orders, and address feedback on production needs or challenges.Ensure compliance with HACCP standards, Australian Certified Organic standards, batch tracking, and other relevant regulations.Support the admin team in managing payroll, wholesale sales, and online operations, and assist with technology upgrades for efficiency.Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and training of employees to meet objectives for sales, profitability, and growth.Identify and develop new business partnerships to expand the company's market presence.Provide leadership, coaching, and feedback to help staff strengthen skills and improve productivity.Required Skills and Qualifications:Proven success in a managerial role within manufacturing, processing, or retail, ideally in the food industry.Minimum of 5 years' experience managing cross-functional teams, with a proven ability to lead diverse departments.Strong business acumen with a track record of growing profitability and achieving aggressive sales targets.Excellent financial management skills, including budget planning, resource allocation, and cost control.Familiarity with mechanical production, including maintenance and repair of processing and ancillary machinery.Experience in developing and implementing inventory management and warehousing systems to support scalability.Familiarity with technology solutions and their implementation to improve business efficiencies.Strong communication, collaboration, and delegation skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve results.Expertise in e-commerce platforms such as Shopify and MYOB, and experience leading technology upgrades.Knowledge of supply chain management, value-adding processes, and HACCP and ACO standards is desirable.Compensation:Base salary commensurate with experience.Performance-based incentives tied to achieving sales, profitability, and operational efficiency targets.This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on a growing business in the Australian macadamia nut industry and launch an exciting new retail brand.
