They employ almost 2,500 people across multiple business entities.Your new roleThis is a newly created role born out of the complexity and success of the business. They are now seeking to appoint an in-house lawyer who has been admitted as a solicitor in a State Supreme Court to support the business across all entities.This role is a part of the Executive Team and acts as the in-house lawyer to manage and coordinate legal matters with the external providers and provide internal support on daily matters.The in-house legal function is primarily responsible for:Advising on day-to-day legal issues.Engaging and instructing private practitioners for the resolution of complex matters outside in-house expertise and managing associated costs.Ensuring that the business complies with the law and establishes strong corporate governance and legal compliance processes and procedures.Undertaking appropriate education of business stakeholders in respect of contracts, risk, ethics, and compliance.Support the business to effectively review, amend and negotiate contracts including tender submissions, special conditions of order, supplier agreements, etc.Working with the Property team with lease terms, negotiations and renewals.Working with the Finance Director with property acquisitions and the associated due diligence.Working with the Managing Director, Finance Director and senior managers with business acquisitions.Escalating the debt collection process when legal proceedings are required.What we need from youYou will have extensive experience in commercial law including private company mergers and acquisitions, contracts and property leasing. Your background will ideally be in the wholesale, distribution or building and construction sectors or similar. You will have a Bachelor of Laws from a recognised Australian tertiary institution or equivalent and a current practicing certificate.What nextIf you are interested in this role please send through an application now.
