Position: General Chef Position Type : Full-Time Salary: $73,150 plus superannuation per annum Location: Adelaide SA 5000 Our client is seeking an experienced Chef to join their Greek Restaurant located in Adelaide, South Australia.
As a Chef you will be responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food items to ensure high-quality dining experiences.
Working closely with the kitchen team, the Chef will ensure that all dishes meet established standards for taste, presentation, and hygiene.
This role requires creativity, attention to detail, time management, and an ability to work under pressure.
Key Responsibilities: Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and restaurant standards.
Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation.
Manage and oversee food preparation for special dietary requirements (e.g., vegan, gluten-free).
Menu Development: Assist in designing new menu items or seasonal specials.
Participate in brainstorming and food tastings with the team.
Kitchen Operations Management: Supervise kitchen staff, delegating tasks and ensuring smooth operations.
Ensure that all food preparation is completed in a timely manner to meet customer demands.
Coordinate with suppliers for ordering quality ingredients.
Hygiene and Safety Compliance: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards according to health and safety regulations.
Monitor the storage of food items to prevent spoilage and contamination.
Comply with occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and food safety standards (HACCP).
Cost Control and Stock Management: Manage stock levels and reduce wastage.
Monitor food costs to ensure profitability without compromising quality.
Ensure proper portion control in all dishes served.
Teamwork and Leadership: Provide guidance and training to junior kitchen staff.
Foster a positive working environment by encouraging collaboration.
Step in as a Head Chef or Sous Chef, if required, during absences.
Customer Service: Respond to feedback from customers and incorporate suggestions where necessary.
Maintain positive communication with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
Requirements: Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher Proven two (2) years of relevant experience as a Chef Strong knowledge of food hygiene, safety standards, and OHS regulations.
Excellent time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to lead and motivate a kitchen team.
Creativity and passion for cooking, with the ability to innovate.
Strong attention to detail and presentation skills.
Ability to handle feedback and solve problems efficiently.
Preferred Skills and Attributes: Prior experience preparing Greek cuisine Experience in menu planning and costing.
Knowledge of different cuisines and culinary techniques.
