About the role: We're seeking a Commercial Director to be based in our Perth CBD office. Reporting to the Regional Commercial Director for WA/SA, the Commercial Manager is primarily responsible for the efficient and effective management of all commercial and contractual matters on the assigned projects. Adherence to internal and external governance, contractual and commercial management and coordination of these activities ensuring essential procedures are produced, implemented and documented while achieving contractual requirements and Project milestones.
This role will be responsible for:
Lead or assist in developing and reviewing commercial strategies and tender documents in compliance with DTI policies and procedures. Facilitate contract risk assessments with the legal team to ensure tender proposals align with the business risk profile. This may involve participating in tender phases to support the creation of bids for various contract forms, including D&C, Lump Sum, ECI, TOC, and Alliance arrangements. Facilitate commercial handover to project teams upon contract award. Proactively manage dispute process with clients and subcontractors. Advise the Project Director and/or Project Manager on commercial matters arising under the contract. Ensure the scope of works is clearly understood at tender stage, monitored through the project phases, and appropriate regimes are established to recover change. Manage the work performance of self and direct reports to ensure objectives and milestones are achieved. Preferred experience/qualifications: Bachelor's degree in relevant business or finance field. Demonstrable and successful experience in commercial management of projects at a similar level. Ability to proactively manage dispute process with clients and subcontractors. Working knowledge of the common law, state and federal regulations and statute as it relates to commercial issues. Good working knowledge of construction law and its related contracts, including turnkey construction contracts.
