Koala Conservation Australia (KCA) is one of the leading authorities in koala care, education, conservation and research.
It is a not-for-profit charity organisation, recognised internationally for its koala conservation work.
KCA is a company limited by guarantee and as a registered charity has DGR 1 status.
KCA relies on a dedicated team of volunteers that assist with day-to-day operations, and is managed by a Board of Directors who are volunteers.
The organisation operates the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital where sick and injured koalas are cared for, and this facility is open to visitors.The Koala Hospital has a 51-year history and is a significant and popular tourist attraction within Port Macquarie for local, domestic and international visitors.
KCA also manages two plantations that cultivate koala food trees and undertakes research in relation to plantation management.During the Black Summer bushfires of 2019-2020 KCA received over $7 million in public donations which has enabled the commencement of the world's first Wild Koala Conservation Breeding Program, which is based at Guulabaa.KCA relies on raising funds to continue and grow its koala care and conservation programs.
These funds are primarily raised through visitors to the hospital, donations, Adopt a Koala program, and shop revenue.About the RoleThe Fundraising Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy with clear targets and measurable activities.The role being offered is a 2 year contract with the option for hybrid work arrangements to the right applicant.
You will be required to set an annual fundraising budget, evaluate progress against goals, and run the annual Appeals program to drive individual giving and donations.
Additionally, the Fundraising Manager will analyse donor data to identify revenue opportunities, maintain data integrity, and ensure compliance with data governance standards.Collaboration with the marketing, communications, visitor engagement, and retail teams is essential to deliver a cohesive message and enhance donor experiences.The Fundraising Manager will also explore new income generation opportunities, develop fundraising policies and procedures, and establish partnerships with other organisations to support koala conservation objectives.Adherence to ethical fundraising practices and compliance with industry standards are critical in this role.About YouMinimum of three to five years' experience in fundraising within a not-for-profit setting, showcasing a proven track record of meeting fundraising targets across various revenue streams including individual giving, regular giving, major donors, corporate donations, trusts and foundations, and bequests.Proficiency in customer relationship management (CRM) particularly in donor engagement, acquisition, and retention, ideally in a not-for-profit context.Strong analytical capabilities demonstrated through experience in data analysis, reporting, and optimization of fundraising strategies, as well as evaluating and reporting on fundraising programs.Exceptional interpersonal communication skills and relationship management abilities.Outstanding written communication skills, including copywriting and editing expertise.Effective organisational and time management skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Sharepoint.Comprehensive understanding of the charity sector.Tertiary qualifications, preferably in marketing, communications, fundraising, or related field.Applications close 15/11/2024 midnight, please keep resume to 2 pages and 1 page cover letter.
