About the role: Reporting to the R&M EIS Team Lead, you will be primarily responsible for applying, driving and managing the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Functional Safety with Electrical & Instrumentation or Process Engineering within our Distribution Business.
This includes Functional Safety engineering reviews, MOC Risk assessments and the governance of the Functional Safety Management Plan so all requirements are met.
Key responsibilities: Develop and manage Functional Safety Management Plans and E&I improvement plans. Develop, monitor and report on effective KPI's. Provide technical support and SME advice aligned to Major Hazard Facilities and Petroleum & Gas Legislations. Provide electrical, instrumentation and/or processing engineering subject matter expert input to Distribution hazard studies and risk assessments (e.g MOC Risk assessment, HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, Bow tie). Develop and maintain functional safety management plans for Distribution sites and ensure sustainable compliance with IEC61511. Responsible for all safety shutdown functions. Review and assess electrical, instrumentation and functional safety systems to ensure we meet National and Australian standards. Support with Distribution with Major Hazard Facility safety cases through active participation in workshops and development of action plans. About you: You have proven minimum 10 years' experience in a similar role within Petroleum or Chemical Process Industry with a high focus on Governance & Planning, Risk Management, Regulatory & Compliance.
You have a sound knowledge and understanding of Functional Safety in both Electrical, Instrumentation and Process Engineering with comprehensive knowledge of relevant standards for engineered functional safety.
Key skills and experience: Formal qualifications in Engineering (Electrical/Instrumentation/Process preferred). Functional Safety Certification (TUV Certified Competency) is preferred. Minimum 10 years' experience in Oil and Gas Engineering with experience in Terminals and Distribution or Manufacturing. Experience in Petroleum or Chemical Process Industry. Experience in Functional safety assessment. Experience in Hazardous area compliance and in HAZOPs, LOPA, CHAZOPs is preferred. Advance proficiency level in MS office and database application software. Excellent communications skills (verbal and written). Conceptual thinking and complex problem-solving skills.
