What makes a good Tram Driver?
If you are passionate about providing a service and love your city you are already on the right track!
Of course a commitment to safety and focus on zero harm is crucially important, this includes a proven record of safe driving on the road.
You will be able to multi-task whilst maintaining concentration over a period of time.
It's important you have a commitment to provide exceptional customer service, thinking of our passengers as part of your family.
Lastly you will have a positive outlook and an ability to cope with pressure and be resilient.
What do you need to become a tram driver?
To be a Tram Driver you need to be prepared to be part of a workplace that is based on respect, promotes diversity and encourages inclusiveness.
It's important that you are medically fit to perform the functions of a Tram Driver.
This includes basic mobility, hearing, and other health checks.
You will be provided with the support required to complete a comprehensive full time 6-10 week training program and a 6 month probation period.
You will be paid during this training period and much of the training is 'on-the-job' driving trams on the network with an instructo Being a Full Time Tram Driver means a commitment to shift work this includes: Being available to work full time 40 hours per week (unless part-time driving is desired) Being available to work a rotating roster that will cover Yarra Trams hours of operation.
Shift swaps are available to assist in meeting personal needs and preferences Being rostered for shifts that have early starts or late finishes.
Working weekends and public holidays.
