Are you a skilled Food Technology Technician looking for a rewarding part-time role? Cornish College is seeking an experienced Food Technology Technician to join their dedicated team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the delivery of the Food Technology curriculum and ensuring a safe and well-equipped learning environment for students.
What you'll be doing Classroom Support:
Assist the Food Technology teacher in setting up and organising the kitchen for practical classes,ensuring ingredients and equipment are available for each class Support students during hands-on cooking sessions, providing guidance on techniques and ensuring adherence to safety and hygiene protocols in line with the teacher's expectations Ensure the appropriate cleanup after each practical class, taking responsibility for related-laundry duties Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain and clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and workspaces before and after each class Report any malfunctioning equipment to the teacher for prompt repair or replacement Ensure equipment is set-up and available for each class Safety and Hygiene:
Enforce and reinforce safety and hygiene practices in the kitchen, emphasising the importance of cleanliness and proper food handling Monitor students to ensure they follow safety guidelines and intervene when necessary Ensure appropriate and correct storage of food, including monitoring expiry dates Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in all areas of the Food Technology area including the cool room, demonstrator bench, benches and sink areas Maintain stoves for cleanliness and working order Administrative Support:
Assist in the collation and purchasing of food orders Safety Compliance:
Conduct regular safety checks and inspections to ensure a secure learning environment Additional support
Maintain an accurate inventory of tools, materials, and equipment including the return of equipment to appropriate storage after out of hours functions Assist in the procurement of new resources/equipment as needed Laundering of tea towels, dishcloths, placemats and other linen Oversee stock going to and from the professional laundry What we're looking for Commitment to promoting safety and hygiene in a kitchen setting Knowledge of cooking terms and techniques, equivalent weights and measures, etc Well-developed administrative skills, includingadequate use of information and communication technologies (ICT) Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team as well as work autonomously, when required. The ability to develop an understanding of student wellbeing, child safety and of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children, including children with diverse needs and backgrounds (mandatory child safety training is provided) Current Working with Children Check for Employment purposes and Police check Current Food Handler's Certificate, or willingness to obtain such First Aid Qualification or willingness to undertake first aid training To Apply for this Position Interested applicants are highly recommended to visit the employment page on our website at:
