Our goal is to be the best place to work, learn and contribute, and to provide exceptional experiences for our patients and consumers.About Health Information ServicesHealth Information Services (HIS) at the Women's covers a range of services including Electronic Medical Record (EMR) support, scanning, medical record retrieval for patient care and research, clinical coding, statutory reporting and data integrity, Privacy, Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, medical enquiries/release of information (ROI) requests and medical transcription (outpatient service).About the roleAs an FOI Officer you will ensure FOI/Medicolegal requests are processed in accordance with the Women's and related legislated requirements. You'll read and evaluate medical records and make decisions as per the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic) or the Health Records Act 2001.A regular day will see you:Retrieve medical records (hardcopy, film and electronic) for FOI and medical enquiry/release of information purposesProcess FOI applications and generate relevant correspondence and monitoring of databases where requiredIdentify and review medical record content and release approved information via digital or hard copyEnsure that the latest updates from OVIC are read and initiated, and your team is updated on matters relating to FOIVisit the Public Record Office of Victoria (PROV) for retrieval of patient information, as directedAbout youYou will be someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who is flexible in their approach to work and has strong attention to detail.To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:Experience in Health Information Services and Freedom of Information processes, within a healthcare agency preferredExperience in interpreting and applying legislative requirements to ensure adherence and compliance, principally with reading medical records and application of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic)Experience in handling FOI requests and releasing information, ensuring that safeguards are in place for keeping information confidentialExperience in record keeping and the maintenance of information registers for compliance purposes, and a demonstrated ability to use this information to prepare reportsSound judgement and critical thinking skills that will support the team in managing FOI and information disclosure risksAt the Women's you will enjoy a culture that is collaborative, supportive and passionate about learning.
