About the role We are currently seeking a full-time Fleet Technical Superintendent to help lead our Engineering and Maintenance Team. Reporting to the General Manager, the Fleet Technical Superintendent is responsible for the upkeep, reliability, and programmed maintenance of all vessels, pontoons, and land-based assets. Vessels must be maintained to meet regulatory compliance requirements and to achieve a high level of safety and reliability. The role oversees both the planning and delivery of both planned and unplanned maintenance as well as ensuring the on-vessel engineers (MEDs) are properly equipped to monitor performance and troubleshoot as required. The role is responsible for upholding scheduled maintenance programs, completing servicing as outlined by the OEM and ensuring the recording of these details in Helm (Planned Maintenance System) in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager, Planning.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Delivering the scheduled planned and unplanned maintenance programs in Helm for all mechanical, electrical control systems, vessel structure, guest facilities, safety equipment, and all associated ancillaries on the vessels, tenders, pontoon, etc. through effective planning and communication. Establishing technical key performance indicators (KPI) and monitoring and auditing the technical performance of each vessel. Liaising with the Group Chief Engineer on all matters relating to the broader asset upkeep and renewal planning of CWS fleet of vessels. Recording all noted maintenance defects and defect ramifications in Helm and ensuring this culture is embraced by all Crew and Engineers. Working closely with Stores, Procurement and the Maintenance Manager, planning to ensure maintenance stock is maintained at agreed par levels to ensure remedial works can be undertaken without delay. Demonstrating a positive and solution-focused attitude with a clear goal-based approach to problem-solving and engaging the Team in this process. Influencing and leading teams operating in remote locations without the need to maintain a continuous visual presence. Representing the Company and building relationships in dealing with suppliers, contractors, and regulatory authorities. Well-developed leadership and management skills including effective time management and prioritization skills. Producing timely and conclusive reporting on works undertaken and planned works and projects to be considered. Constructing detailed repair specifications for vessel out of service periods. About you The successful candidate will have previous maritime asset management experience. You will provide guidance, support, and coaching to the Engineering staff within Cruise Whitsundays on marine engineering and technical matters. You possess the ability to promote an environment of shared vision and cooperation for continual improvement of team performance. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable sometimes being onboard vessels, remote pontoons, working outside in the elements, at heights, and in confined spaces.
To be successful in this role you will have / be: Project and Change management skills. Experience in conducting risk assessments and introducing practical safety measures. Excellent ability to manage time, prioritize to meet deadlines with strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills. Intermediate computer literacy with experience using maintenance management software and data entry. An eye for detail and take pride in your work. Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of and commitment to maintenance planning techniques and philosophies, including a continuous improvement approach. Reliable, self-motivated, and proactive. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Marine superintendence &/or Marine Engineering qualification. HLTAID011 Provide First Aid & Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – Mandatory. Previous maritime asset management experience and ideally exhibit knowledge of a variety of engine OEMs. Previous experience managing marine asset maintenance teams.
