Hays are excited to partner with a mid-tier Gold Producer who are seeking a Senior Health & Safety Advisor on a permanent, full-time basis. Working in a complex and layered service environment, the successful candidate will be an operational, transactional, and underground mining experienced candidate. This role is offered on a FIFO, DIDO, or Residential basis and is suitable for someone who is looking to make a difference in an organisation that contributes significantly to the local community.
Your new role
As the Senior Health & Safety Advisor, you will directly report into the Health and Safety Superintendent. You will:
Provide data entry and management of the site safety database and systems (SkyTrust/INX). Produce quality accurate weekly, monthly, and annual reports including on-line reporting. Maintain, monitor, and report on status of action registers for compliance (across the range of lead and lag indicator groups). Manage and maintain filing and maintenance of OH&S records and reports including archiving. Attend site pre-start and ToolBox meetings. Collate safety statistics for reporting purposes. Monitor budget and raise purchase requisitions. Ensure that all safety and health related documents are in accordance with the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999 Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Regulations 2001 and any other standards which apply. Plan, supervise and prioritize H&S projects. Use a schedule to develop monthly and annual project completion dates. Facilitate/Participate in Operational/Procedural Risk Assessments with a view to best practice and zero harm. Develop/review site procedures with a view to best practice. Facilitate/participate in incident investigations as required. Coordinate and manage workplace injuries and return to work plans. What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will require:
A tertiary level qualification in Workplace Health & Safety, with a Cert IV in Occupational Health & Safety as a minimum. Sound understanding of Statutory requirements for SHMS and Auditing. Proficient in the use of H&S software packages and previous experience using INX system. Good oral and written skills - both in technical and reporting. A high level of mentoring, training, and internal departmental development ability. Demonstrated planning, analytical, problem-solving ability, report writing and communication skills. High level administrative skills, including the ability to meet deadlines. ICAM Lead Incident Investigation & facilitation skills. Strong safety ethic. Certificate IV Training & Assessment (Desirable). Understanding and exposure to QLD Mining Legislation. What you'll get in return
