The role will be based at the Uranquinty Power Station , about 20 minutes south of Wagga Wagga , where you will be working alongside trade-qualified Senior Plant Technicians maintaining the power station and its auxiliary plant.
This role is for locally based candidates only.
In this four-year apprenticeship you will work towards the completion of a MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade .
Job Details Origin Energy is a leading Australian integrated energy company with interests in energy retailing, power generation and natural gas production.
Uranquinty Power Station is a natural gas-fired power station comprising four gas turbines.
It is operated and maintained by a team of Plant Technicians and the Power Station Manager.
As a Fitter and Turner Apprentice, you will work a Monday to Friday roster with standard hours of 7.30am to 3.36pm daily.
Your on-the-job training will involve being mentored by qualified tradespeople who will give you hands-on exposure and training on preventative and corrective maintenance activities on various equipment and plant including pipework, pumps, tanks, valves, water, chemicals, gas auxiliary plants, and gas turbines.
You will be involved in scheduled shutdowns as required, as well as fabricating and repairing parts and equipment following the site maintenance plans.
Uranquinty Power Station offers a very diverse range of equipment and tasks to work on as an apprentice in heavy industry.
Visits to Origin's other power stations may be offered to contribute to your performance and learning process.
