As Fisheries Officer - Recruit, you will:
• Assist Authorised Officers with enforcement, surveillance, inspections and investigations in fisheries and fisheries habitat protection and small craft safety under state and commonwealth statutes.
• Assist in the delivery of compliance and extension services to fishers, small craft users and the community to develop their knowledge and understanding of fisheries, fisheries habitat and boating safety requirements.
• Develop and maintain knowledge and understanding of State and Commonwealth Fisheries and maritime safety legislation.
• Engage with a cross section of the community on fisheries and marine related compliance issues through participation and delivery of education activities at public events.
• Assist with routine maintenance of departmental equipment and materials to ensure they are kept in good operational condition.
The Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol (QBFP) has multiple roles in a range of locations across Queensland.
We are looking for candidates who will have:
• One of the following: Diploma of Justice Studies, Diploma of Government (Investigations), Diploma of Policing and Diploma of Fisheries Compliance or a Diploma or higher-level qualification in a relevant field e.g. marine or aquatic resources or an equivalence determination for the qualification held.
• Possession of a current manual motor vehicle driver's licence (Class "C" open)
• Possession of a recreational marine driver's licence or equivalent
• Possession of or ability to obtain a personal watercraft licence or equivalent
• Physical ability to carry out manual tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
