Selection Criteria1. The First Aid & Administration Officer is a job-sharing role, with the other 3 days covered by a Registered Nurse. As a result, the overarching administration of policies and procedures is managed by the College Nurse.
The First Aid & Administration Officer has the responsibility for first aid enquiries on their two days of work, providing first aid care to sick or injured students or staff. The role requires close interaction with a range of staff, students and parents.
The successful applicant must have First Aid qualifications (minimum level HLTAID011), and ideally experience in a similar capacity, strong administration and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail and passion for delivering work to a high standard and strong organisational and time management skills including the ability to manage competing and/or changing priorities.
ResponsibilitiesFirst Aid and Health Management Responsibilities: First Aid Care: Provide first aid care to sick or injured students and staff (e.g., cuts, bruises, sprains) and manage serious injuries until professional help arrives. Administer first aid for specific conditions requiring specialized training.Medication Administration: Administer medications as per medical plans and maintain accurate records.Emergency Response: Follow school emergency procedures, including arranging emergency services when needed.Student Health Monitoring: Be aware of students with specific health conditions (e.g., allergies, asthma) and know how to respond in emergencies related to those conditions.First Aid Records and Administration: Incident Reporting: Document all incidents, including injury details, treatment provided, and follow-up needs. Record all first aid attendances and parent communications in Compass.Data Management: Maintain injury reports and student health records in school systems. Maintain registers for students with specific health needs.Accident/Incident Register: Maintain and update the Accident/Incident Register in Edusafe Plus and provide advice on health and safety within the College.First Aid Supplies and Facilities: First Aid Kits: Organise and replenish supplies for excursions, camps, and school activities.First Aid Room: Keep the first aid room clean and compliant with OHS standards. Manage medications and equipment supplies according to policies and guidelines.Safety and Procedures: Compliance: Ensure compliance with Department of Education health related policies, child safe standards, and health and safety guidelines.Emergency Procedures: Respond to emergencies and coordinate procedures according to the school's policies.General Administrative Support: Administrative Duties: Assist with routine clerical tasks such as answering phones, responding to parent queries, and taking payments for school activities.Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal, including supporting compliance with child safe standards and mandatory reporting legislation.Essential Skills Current First Aid level two training (HLTAID011)Current training in CPR, Anaphylaxis, Asthma, Epilepsy or willingness to obtain.Excellent communication skills and experience working in an environment with a wide variety of people in a personable, professional and confidential manner.Demonstrated administration experience with possession of computer and document management skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.Hold a current Victorian WWCC (Employee).An ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and to support a holistic partnership with teachers, parents and student wellbeing staff.Preferable experience of using Compass Management System to record and review student records.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
