The Opportunity
Reporting to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, you'll provide legal advice and support for non-trust related legal and governance matters within Mutual Trust's internal corporate team.You'll play a critical role in managing legal, regulatory and governance issues within the organisation, ensuring Mutual Trust continues to help our clients achieve what matters most.
Key Responsibilities
Provide legal support including review and negotiation of contracts, advising on regulatory issues and supporting the business with advice on legislative changes and legal risk management. Offer legal assistance across Mutual Trust's Wealth Business, including advisory on AFS licensing requirements, reviewing legal documentation and ensuring compliance with the Corporations Act and ASIC regulations. Support on workplace law matters, provide updates on changes in law, and assist with employment agreements. Offer internal legal advice to client-facing team members and advise the Philanthropy Team on compliance with relevant guidelines. Contribute to the development of internal policies and governance practices. Prepare materials for compliance learning systems and deliver internal training on legal issues. About You
You have strong commercial acumen, a collaborative approach and the ability to provide solutions-focused, commercial legal advice to a diverse range of internal stakeholders.
What we're looking for:
5-7 years PQE lawyer with broad experience in financial services law and general corporate/commercial law. Solid understanding of financial services laws, obligations of AFS licensees, investment advisory, investment management and investment operations. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to listen, understand legal issues and partner with the business to deliver sound advice and solutions. Proactive in understanding and communicating legal risks, delivering risk management strategies. Ability to work with limited supervision and also collaboratively, both as an internal legal adviser and in liaison with external law firms.
