The senior leadership team comprises 5 Partners and 6 Principals, and the broader team includes architects, interior designers, graphic designers, and furniture designers.
Many projects by JWA have been highly awarded, with their work regularly appearing in local and international social and print media.
The Financial Controller leads a finance team of two, is an integral part of the senior management team, and fundamental to the ongoing profitable operation of the organisation.
The Finance team resides in the Melbourne studio.
Responsibilities will include:Overseeing all financial activities including management of the team deliverables around financial reporting and control.Management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and strategic input into all financial aspects of the practice.Management of relationships with internal stakeholders, external accountants, banks and financiers, insurers, and other suppliers.Identification of opportunities to improve existing processes and implementation of new initiatives.Facilitation of the on-going development of all team members.Financial input into bids, tendering, contracts and variations including fee and profit benchmarking.Application of financial and other practice metrics/trends to formulate practice strategies with the senior leadership teamInvolvement in industry bodies and development of a profile within financial aspects of the profession.Required skills and experienceFormal Accounting qualification (CA or CPA)10+ years' experience in the accounting or finance spaceExperience in the Architecture industry is preferred but not essentialExcellent technical knowledge, and application of financial and management accounting standards, principles and practices.Highly developed specialised financial analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skillsAbility to engage, develop relationships, and lead practice members at all levelsStrong ethics and values with an ability to manage confidential dataWell-developed negotiation skillsHigh attention to detail and ability to identify patterns and trendsCuriosity and problem-solving orientationExceptional communication skills, both written and verbalJWA fosters a collaborative culture with a dynamic team that values design excellence.
