About the Business: Overstory is a sustainably minded and forward-thinking wine business, based at our certified organic vineyard – Wayfinder - in Margaret River, Western Australia. Our capable and friendly team work across our two properties in Margaret River and the Tamar Valley, Tasmania (Small Wonder). We also work with likeminded producers from Europe and beyond, importing their wines into the Australian market, through our East-coast based distribution business, Small Story Merchants.
We are looking for someone who loves being across the numbers and using them to 'make sense of things'. This role is newly created to build the commercial capability within the organisation by strategic data analysis and identifying key financial insights.
Duties and Responsibilities: We need a highly skilled and detail-oriented Finance Analyst, who will play a pivotal role in providing financial and operational insights and developing financial models to support strategic business decisions. We're looking for somebody with a strong background in financial analysis, ideally from the wine industry , to contribute to the company's future growth.
Additionally, you will analyse and interpret financial and non-financial performance indicators and provide feedback to those responsible with the ultimate objective being an improvement in business performance.
Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with various departments to offer commercial analysis on product costing & profitability, pricing strategies, and cost-saving initiatives. Develop and maintain financial models to forecast performance and track key financial metrics. Present clear and actionable insights to senior managers to drive strategic decisions. Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes. Drive process improvements and ensure financial reporting accuracy. Support the finance team with month end, including preparing financial reports and offering detailed analysis on key performance indicators. About You: Being the finance business partner to multiple stakeholders, you can demonstrate your broad analytical experience developed from time spent across multiple industries, ideally including the wine industry. Having relevant tertiary qualifications, and preferably being CA/CPA qualified , you will work well within an ever-changing environment and bring strong problem-solving skills.
A minimum of 5 years' previous experience as a Financial Analyst or similar role. Experience with SAP Business One would be beneficial, but not essential. Advanced competency in utilising spreadsheets and ability to analyse large data sets. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to prioritise and manage workload to meet deadlines.
