In this position, you will provide essential financial stewardship, control, and risk management while delivering valuable insights into business transactions.
About the Role As the Financial Accounting Lead, you'll be responsible for preparing statutory reports and developing accounting policies, ensuring we meet all regulatory obligations. Your expertise in treasury accounting and technical support will be crucial in maintaining an accurate balance sheet and profit and loss statements for the company. Prepare the annual and half-year financial statements for the Energy Australia Group and its relevant subsidiaries. Complete CLP (shareholder) schedules required as part of the half-year close processes and interact with CLP to deliver accurate and timely information for CLP group's external disclosures. Provide commercially focused, technical accounting advice. Support the Financial Control team Centres of Excellence (Capex, Opex, Project, GM) in interpreting the accounting treatment of the more complex areas of the business in ensuring the general ledger is accurately produced. Prepare regulatory and external stakeholder compliance of AFSL, interest coverage ratio, solvency attestations, etc. Assist in preparation of accounting judgement papers and accounting memos for the Audit and Risk Committee, the Board of Directors, and CLP. Manage the process of accurate accounting and financial reporting for the company's Treasury activities including the monthly close process. How can you support the Clean Energy Transition With your financial accounting background and desire to be part of a collaborative and supportive team, you'll ideally have the following:
Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, economics, or another relevant quantitative degree (minimum requirement). Postgraduate qualifications in accounting and/or finance holding current CA/CPA qualifications. Minimum 6-8 plus years strong technical accounting advisory experience gained from a large corporate environment or Big 4, showcasing in-depth knowledge of accounting standards. Particularly adept in areas such as leasing, derivative accounting, and consolidation, with the ability to offer strategic accounting insights and simplify complex financial information for a diverse audience. Collaborative team player with strong leadership skills, adept at communicating confidently and effectively, capable of thriving with minimal supervision. Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, fostering and maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders.
