Financial Accountant - Statutory ReportingMacquarie Health Corporation is a leading operator of private hospitals in Australia. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Financial Accountant with Statutory Reporting experience to join the Corporate Accounting Team on a permanent basis. This contract role is for an immediate start with an initial term of 6 months with the potential to extend and transition to a permanent role.
ABOUT THE ROLE This is a fantastic opportunity to assume a leadership role in a progressive organisation. Reporting to the Group Finance Director, you will be a senior member of the corporate accounting team. You will have end-to-end responsibility for driving year-end statutory completion and control, ensuring balance sheet integrity and overall assistance with the group accounting function.
DUTIES You will work with a variety of stakeholders, including the hospital Administration and Finance Managers and other external stakeholders such as external auditors. You will play a pivotal role in delivering the Group's Statutory Financial Statements (annual and half-year) and related Statutory & Regulatory returns.
Specific duties include:
Perform full balance sheet reconciliation and prepare Special/General Purpose Financial Reports for various entities within the group.Preparation of the group statutory accounts ensuring compliance with all the accounting standards and statutory, professional and legislative requirements.Reviewing and resolving balance sheet reconciliation and reporting issues, and ongoing maintenance of the group's chart of accounts.Assisting with group consolidation and preparation of tax effect accounting.Providing fact-based recommendations for improvement in reporting, accounting and general ledger practices.Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and accounting standards, including internal controls, audit requirements, and reporting deadlines.KEY SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS CA/CPA qualified with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a chartered accounting firm.Minimum 3 years of experience with statutory reporting, audit, income tax and tax accounting.Previous experience in consolidation and intercompany reconciliations.Previous ERP experience, advanced technical and accounting skills are essential along with strong written and verbal communication coupled with good commercial acumen.Self-motivated and has the ability to take responsibility for deliverables and work to deadlines.HOW TO APPLY Click the APPLY button and include your resume and cover letter.
