Summary of Job: The primary focus of the Financial Accountant is to support the delivery of key monthly and annual financial reporting deliverables.
This includes month-end reconciliations, journal entries, budgets and forecasts, and partnering with stakeholders to share insight on key business drivers.
The role will work collaboratively with the wider finance team to ensure all finance actions are completed accurately and on time.
The position will also play a key role in the development of internal control policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities: Ensure the proper, complete, and accurate record-keeping of company transactions are performed to AASB and IFRS.Preparation of the annual budget and the quarterly financial forecasts and reporting the cost analysis across the business.Manage month-end and year-end close process and prepare monthly management reporting pack for submission to corporate.Prepare and review the balance sheet reconciliations and P&L accounts, perform inter-company reconciliations and update corporate reporting tools.Preparation and lodgment of BAS returns, FBT, tax returns.Business partner with all departments to understand and explain the financial perspective of the business to both the leadership team and corporate stakeholders.Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.Assist the Financial Controller to maintain good corporate relations with customers, vendors, banks, Moog global subsidiaries, SDG & Corporate Finance teams and other affiliates.Management of R&D tax incentive process.Maintain the Fixed Assets Register of the company.Working capital management (Manage cash flow through good practice of AP AR and inventory management).Managing intercompany netting process.Liaise with external and internal auditors, be a key player in annual audit process and assist in preparing Annual Statutory accounts.Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.Advanced study in accounting, finances, taxes and US GAAP are highly desirable.Professional qualification – CPA or CA.Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of proven experience in accounting related roles within a commercial environment (Multinational Company preferred).Other: Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.Knowledge of ERP systems (QAD /MFG-Pro or SAP is an advantage).Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel (Advanced), PowerPoint).Deep analytical capability and ability to apply strategic thinking to financial reporting and analysis.Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills with ability to consult and provide advice to all levels of the organization.Ability to work independently and contribute effectively as a team member to achieve goals.Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to prioritise and manage workload, meet deadlines and adapt to changing circumstances.Location: Heatherton (Melbourne office)
