Established educational institution requires an experienced Financial Accountant for a permanent opportunity.Your new companyA well-established local educational institution is seeking a CPA or CA Accountant (or someone working towards these qualifications) to join their finance team in a permanent full-time position in Townsville. The position will report to the Manager of Treasury and Corporate Finance and will be part of the financial and business services team. This leading organisation values its people, offering opportunities for continued learning and development, as well as a work-life balance with 36.25-hour work weeks and hybrid working arrangements.Your new roleThe Financial Accountant is crucial in upholding the organization's financial integrity and compliance. This role will provide professional and strategic financial and business management services across multiple functions, such as statutory accounts compilation, financial reporting for external funding agencies, reconciliation oversight, taxation compliance, and budgeting support.Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:Maintain accurate financial and tax records through effective reconciliation and discrepancy resolution.Ensure compliant financial reporting by coordinating audits and adhering to regulations.Manage and resolve complex accounting and tax queries, providing expert advice.Enhance financial compliance with expert guidance on external regulations.Support decision-making with clear data, analysis, and insights.What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this position, you will be a qualified accounting professional with a postgraduate qualification (or progress towards one) in financial/business management, accounting, or commerce. You should have proven experience in financial accounting or a similar role, with a detailed understanding and working knowledge of accounting standards, principles, and practices.You will possess high-level analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to interpret complex data and financial information. You will be hands-on and detail-oriented, with the ability to communicate and deliver high-level reports. Additionally, you will liaise with various levels of stakeholders to present complex information with clarity and professionalism.
