SRA strives to shape the future prosperity of the Australian sugarcane industry and regional communities through innovation and ingenuity.We have highly dedicated and passionate people working on industry-critical projects to deliver tangible value outcomes and impact for our industry stakeholders.About the role This key role works with internal and external stakeholders to assist in the preparation of financial reports and to ensure timely, accurate closure of accounts.
The Financial Accountant provides direct, high-level support to the Senior Financial Accountant to achieve project outcomes.
This role has access to confidential information and always requires absolute tact and discretion.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in the day-to-day operations of the finance department, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.
Support audits and financial reviews.Support the Senior Financial Accountant in the accurate and timely closure of month-end accounts.Prepare reconciliations on a monthly, fortnightly, and weekly basis for approval by the Senior Financial Accountant.Review payment runs and provide support to accounts officers as needed.Perform regular reviews and analyses of accounts to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial information.Maintain the fixed asset register and manage the chart of accounts master data (e.g., accounts, projects).Collaborate with other business units to ensure accurate allocation of business unit and project costs.Assist the Senior Financial Accountant in coordinating and supporting internal and external audits.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies, and procedures.Facilitate the accurate and timely completion of financial acquittals.ChallengesRegulatory Compliance:Ensuring compliance with changing financial regulations and accounting standards that will require the candidate to continuously learn and adapt.Technological Advancements:With changes to the business-wide systems, the candidate will need to learn new systems and integrate them into existing workflows.Financial Reporting:This involves meticulous attention to detail and the ability to analyse complex financial data across existing and emerging platforms.Audit and Compliance:Supporting internal and external audits can be stressful, especially during peak periods.
The candidate will need to ensure all financial records are accurate and compliant with regulations.Workload Management:Balancing multiple tasks and deadlines will be challenging, particularly during month-end and year-end closures.Data Security:Protecting sensitive financial data from cyber threats is a growing concern.
