Financial Accountant - Banking Sector

Technical Financial Accountant Role Purpose:
Join our client's prestigious Finance team, where you will leverage your expertise in financial services.
This role focuses on providing technical advice on Group accounting topics, ensuring precise statutory reporting, and designing impactful accounting policies.
Collaborate within a matrix team, drive continuous improvement, and influence the future of financial reporting in the banking sector.


Key Relationships:
- Internal: Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting and building cross-divisional relationships with executive management
- External: Key player in the external audit process with the Group's external auditor.


Key Accountabilities:
- Provide technical accounting advice to support commercial outcomes.
- Offer thought leadership on accounting matters to Group Finance.
- Influence the Group's external auditor on technical accounting issues.
- Design and implement accounting policies; train finance teams.
- Manage changes to accounting standards; lead statutory reporting.
- Ensure accuracy in financial statement disclosures.
- Analyze and implement improvements to legal entity structures.


Experience and Competency:
- CA/CPA qualified with significant post-qualification experience.
- Preferably experienced in financial services.
- Demonstrated experience in financial statement production and accounting standards interpretation.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- A mindset geared towards continuous improvement and innovation.
