Through our person-centred approach, we continue building a brighter tomorrow for people with disability.About the positionBased in Ipswich and reporting to the CEO, we are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to cover a period of maternity leave. At a strategic level, the Finance Manager contributes to the achievement of Focal's overarching objectives through the delivery of sound financial advice and diligent oversight of all financial activities. At an operational level, the position oversees three direct reports and the full suite of accounting functions. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the CEO through the provision of accurate, timely, and strategically aligned information and advice to ensure sound decision-making and compliance with corporate requirements.Key Accountabilities include:Lead, coach and mentor the finance team, instilling a strong customer service mindset.Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll in accordance with financial policies, procedures, instructions, and relevant legislation.Preparation and analysis of month-end reporting, financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to deliver the required financial information to key stakeholders.Maintain the integrity of finance system data ensuring financial risk management guidelines are adhered to.Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records in accordance with accounting standards and reporting requirements for the not-for-profit sector.Preparation and management of required evidence to support external auditors and grant providers.Provide high-level, strategic advice to senior management and the Board including but not limited to the provision of financial reporting, guidance, and recommendations.Maintain comprehensive knowledge of financial systems, processes, and controls across the multi-disciplinary organisation.Manage projects and acquittals in line with funder requirements, legislation, and governance practices.Manage cash flow and bank accounts to ensure adequate funds are available to meet planned expenditure and surplus funds are earning a reasonable rate of return.Maintain computerized accounting software, ensuring the provision of adequate third-party support for the software and upgrading of the software where appropriate.About youTo be eligible for this role, you ideally have at least 5 years' accountancy experience within a similar role, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting and CPA or CA certificationStrong technical accounting skills and commercial acumenDemonstrated experience in leading a teamExcellent written and oral communication skillsStrong information technology skillsBlue Card and NDIS Worker Screening ClearanceStrong work ethic and good reliability.As a medium-sized organisation, the right candidate will be willing to work 'hands-on' to support daily operations as required.This position is offered on a full-time, fixed-term 9-month contract with the possibility of extension.Work with a purpose – values led organisation and role!Generous Salary Packaging benefits up to $15,900Access to our Employee Assistance ProgramA welcoming and inclusive team cultureSupported learning environmentIf this sounds like you, please apply today.Role Type
