The Queensland Nurses and Midwives' Union (QNMU) is the industrial and professional organisation for nurses and midwives working in public and private health and aged care in Queensland.
The QNMU seeks to promote and defend the industrial, professional, social, political and democratic interests of over 74,000 members.
About the Role We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join the QNMU.
This role is pivotal to the organisation and requires extensive experience in the management and use of a range of relevant financial and payroll software.
The Finance team strives to deliver maximum value for our members by managing the organisation's finances with transparency, efficiency, and strategic foresight.
We actively partner with stakeholders to optimise resources, enhance member services, and support our strategic goals.
Essential to this role will be the capacity to conduct critical financial analysis, research and the provision of viable options which will deliver on business and process improvement initiatives.
Leading a small team of professional and administrative employees, you must be able to collaborate, motivate and negotiate with internal stakeholders to achieve work goals.
A demonstrated commitment to QNMU's values, purpose and trade unionism in general is essential.
Key responsibilities of the role will include: Provision of accurate and timely professional advice to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on all matters relating to finance, investments and complianceProvision of financial partnering support to senior leadership and other key stakeholders in the delivery of the strategic planMaintaining accuracy and timeliness of the day-to-day management and processing of various accounting activities ensuring compliance obligations are metDeveloping, implementing and monitoring financial systems, policies, and procedures in compliance with Accounting Standards and other relevant legislationLeading the delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reportsMonitoring, analysis and communication of financial trends and anomalies to stakeholdersOversee accuracy, efficiency, and security of financial and payroll systemsManaging the delivery of payroll, including compliance with the QNMU EBA, relevant awards, and other statutory obligationsActing as Contract Manager for key contracts relating to property, assets, and other finance related instrumentsLeading the annual audit process, including liaising with external auditors, ensuring compliance with financial and regulatory reporting requirementsOverseeing the timely preparation and lodgement of statutory reporting obligations including PAYG, superannuation and withholding taxesManaging the daily operations of the Finance team, ensuring flexible deployment of resourcesAbout You Working as part of a busy team, you will possess a professional demeanour with a strong work ethic and the demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
Consistently displaying a collaborative and team-focused approach to your work, you will have the demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality at all times.
To be successful in this role you will possess: Degree in Accounting/Finance and professional CPA/CA designationExtensive experience in all aspects of accounting and financial management, including relevant current tax lawHigh level knowledge of regulations governing wages and conditions and enterprise agreementsExtensive experience in the formulation of budgets and forecasts within a service industryStrong supervisory skills and the ability to lead and motivate a teamAn inclusive culture that celebrates all!
