Position SummaryCadence Connect has been retained by this dynamic family-owned farming enterprise. We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee the financial health of a diverse group of operations. With a finance team based in Brisbane and operational assets currently located in Western Australia, this group manages a large-scale mixed farming business, including broadacre cropping and an expanding Angus cattle breeding and finishing operation. As the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for managing financial and management accounting, reporting, and compliance tasks for the group, which includes multiple farms and a logistics entity. This role will operate on a hybrid/remote working model and may include some occasional site-based trave. Their operations also includes a 1,800-hectare cattle finishing property. In addition to the agricultural operations, they also operate their own logistics fleet, serving both internal and external clients. With revenues exceeding $35 million in FY24 and projected to exceed $41 million in FY25, this business is poised for continued growth. They have a vision to become a leading producer of high-quality, grass-fed beef year-round. Complementing this is their broadacre cropping business, growing grain and feed across multiple properties. The team's success is driven by a team-oriented, hands-on approach, with a focus on building a safe and collaborative working environment.Key Responsibilities:Management Accounting and Reporting:Oversee and assist with the completion of end-of-month accounts.Prepare and post monthly journal entries.Review management profit & loss (P&L) against budget and draft variance commentary.Prepare monthly consolidated Group management reports.Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process.Financial Accounting and Reporting:Assist the CFO with the completion of half-yearly AASB-compliant financial statements.Manage the Fixed Asset Register processes and reporting.Assist with annual external audit planning and documentation.Government Compliance:Review and lodge monthly Business Activity Statements (BAS) for registered entities.Prepare monthly payroll tax returns for relevant entities across multiple states.Support external accountants with the preparation of income tax and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns.Other Responsibilities:Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and payroll functions.Oversee credit card expense processing.Provide guidance, leadership, and performance reviews for direct reports.Identify and manage projects for continuous improvement, including process enhancements and system implementations.Key Relationships:You will work closely with the CFO and the wider finance team, while collaborating with:Farm ManagersChairman / Managing DirectorBulk Logistics Manager and AdministratorQualifications and Experience:The ideal candidate for this position will hold a bachelor's degree in commerce or business and possess CPA or CA qualifications. An initial grounding in a chartered environment would be well received in addition to at least 2 years of commercial accounting experience. You will be able to clearly showcase your ability to manage financial reporting and compliance tasks with precision. Advanced proficiency in Xero and strong skills in Microsoft Office 365 are essential to excel in this role. Candidates with experience and/or a background in the agricultural sector will be highly valued. You will have an intrinsic drive, able to work autonomously as well as support and develop a team around you. Trust is key to success as you will be required to independently work from a home office in Brisbane ideally.
