About the opportunity
Working with the Financial Controller, you will focus on the financial activities including financial management and reporting for the current and future sustainability of the business, working through organisational advancement, and driving a contemporary sustainable financial and service delivery focused agenda.
As part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary organisation you will deliver and coordinate activities using modern, innovative, and contemporary methods, with consideration of public and political implications. You will ensure the integrity of the financial systems and data and foster and support a culture of continuous improvement with a key focus on developing the accountabilities, skills, agility, and capabilities of staff, whilst creating and sustaining a dynamic team that safeguards the financial integrity of Council and excels in the delivery of its customers' experience.
As the incumbent and in collaboration with the Financial Controller and Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the operations and direction of a range of finance functions that contribute to the delivery of the City of Palmerston Community Plan including:
Developing/designing financial models/data analysis reports and forecasts
Reviewing and reporting on the integrity of the financial data and reports
Implement regular data integrity and analysis reporting
Review and validate financial system upgrades/changes and new inputs
Prepares, analysis and reports on the impact of future City of Palmerston initiatives
Foster a continuous learning environment focused on its people, the organizational culture and quality continuous improvement.
About You
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business, or other relevant discipline or significant progress toward completion and at least three years' experience.
Demonstrated commitment towards pursuing a professional qualification i.e. CA or CPA.
Ability to identify and assess operational problems or trends and propose appropriate solutions in an innovative and resourceful manner.
Highly developed and efficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and in the use of corporate management information systems.
Demonstrated experience in developing financial models such as rating models and/or long-range staffing and financial funding requirement models.
Demonstrated experience in developing, designing or modifying data analysis reports that confirms the integrity of existing financial data, provides trends on past and current financial performance, and provides relevant data to inform on potential future trends and decisions.
Demonstrated experience in the delivery of Annual Financial Statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and relevant legislation.
Sound level of communication skills including the ability to convey and impart information in an easy-to-understand format including verbal, written, public presentation and negotiating skills.
The ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships.
