A position that is professionally rewarding A place to expand your skills Full Time, Permanent Opportunity About the Opportunity  The Finance Assistant will support the Corporate Services Portfolio with managing their finances to deliver the Portfolio priorities and strategic plans through assisting in finance partnering, preparation of statutory reports and returns along with assisting in the end of year financial audit.
In this role, you will be responsible for: Assisting in managing the Council's working capital, cash and borrowings in accordance with the Treasury and Cash Investments policy.
Preparing Balance Sheet reconciliations for Council and its Subsidiaries.
Assisting in the preparation and lodgement of Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns.
Assisting in the preparation and lodgement of the Business Activity Statement (BAS) return.
Supporting the Corporate Services Business Partner in month end, budgets and partnering of the Corporate Services Portfolio and Council Subsidiaries.
Assisting the Financial & Capital Accountant with capitalising Plant & Fleet.
About You To be successful in this role you will have: Knowledge of accounting disciplines including financial accounting, compliance reporting, treasury management, variance reporting and budgeting.
Theoretical knowledge of financial modelling and problem solving.
Ability to communicate financial concepts to customers without a financial background.
Ability to be able to undertake small ad-hoc projects with some guidance and manage these to completion.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and develop creative solutions that will achieve outcomes to support the Program and Customers objectives.
A tertiary qualification in Finance/Accounting or studying towards (with relevant work experience) or commensurate demonstrated experience in lieu of formal qualifications.

Please be advised this is a full-time permanent opportunity with a starting salary at the Level 4 Classification commencing at $84,037 + 11.5% superannuation.
