Every minute of every day, our technology and talented team members help to make the world a safer place - https://youtu.be/JmcKLJTrHLc This is a field service engineering position, primarily based at Sydney Airport, responsible for maintaining and repairing Smiths Detection's X-ray and trace detection equipment using hand and power tools, as part of Smiths Detection's 24/7 rotating shift roster. This position requires face-to-face customer interaction and a high level of team orientation, with a proactive approach to seeking and sharing technical knowledge. The ability to work autonomously and across all of the allocated shift rotations/times are also essential requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Troubleshooting, servicing and repairing X-ray and trace detection equipment Proactively completing preventative maintenance tasks according to service contracts and schedules Responding to equipment faults and other corrective maintenance requirements according to service contracts and key performance indicators Testing components and circuitry of X-ray equipment using a multimeter, computer/laptop and the inbuilt equipment software Diagnosing the root cause of mechanical, electrical and electronics related equipment faults (involving 24 volts or less) Replacing belts, rollers, motors and other mechanical components within X-ray equipment Replacing and manoeuvring X-ray sources (i.e., generators) and other heavy parts using lifting aides Opening machines to inspect, vacuum, clean, de-grease, repair and replace internal parts Installing new equipment, independently and alongside Smiths Detection's programs and installations teams and various subcontractors and customer-stakeholders Completing field service related documentation and reports Completing technical, safety, compliance and other job related trainings, online and in-person Maintaining a clean/tidy work station and work environment Responding to queries from customers, vendors, subcontractors and internal stakeholders, verbally and in writing, in a timely and professional manner, independently Consuming spare parts from the warehouse/storage area and promptly updating the associated records in the IT software tracking system Joining regular internal team meetings and safety briefings Ensuring that tools and testing equipment is maintained and calibrated Analysing field service data trends and recommending process and equipment improvements Contributing to continuous improvement projects and initiatives Providing training and support to new joiners and junior-level field service team members Leading safe-work practices and ensuring the safety of junior-level field service team members Reporting and escalating day-to-day issues to more senior field service team members or management in a timely manner Other duties as required The Individual
Skills and Responsibilities:
