Job Description: Team Management: Supervise a team of nursery workers, providing guidance, training, and motivation to achieve production targets and maintain high-quality standards.
Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring the workload is evenly distributed among team members.
Foster a collaborative and respectful work environment that promotes teamwork and productivity.
Conduct regular performance evaluations, identify areas of improvement, and support professional development opportunities for the team.
Nursery Operations: Oversee all nursery operations, including planting, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, pruning, and harvesting of nut, citrus, and stone fruit crops.
Monitor crop health, identifying and addressing any issues promptly to ensure optimal growth and yield.
Collaborate with the farm management team to develop and implement production plans, ensuring the nursery operates efficiently and meets quality standards.
Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure the production of healthy, disease-free, and market-ready plants.
Monitor and maintain records of nursery activities, including crop data, inventory, and production reports.
Work closely with the Quality Control team to adhere to industry standards and certifications.
Health and Safety: Promote and enforce adherence to health and safety protocols and practices for all nursery operations.
Conduct regular safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and take corrective actions to prevent accidents or injuries.
Ensure all team members are equipped with proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and are trained in their use.
Equipment and Facilities: Oversee the maintenance and repair of nursery equipment and facilities.
Ensure all machinery is operated safely and efficiently.
Coordinate with the Maintenance team to schedule necessary repairs and equipment servicing.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field (Non-negotiable) Proven experience in a supervisory role within a nursery or agricultural setting.
Knowledge of nut, citrus, and stone fruit cultivation techniques will be advantageous.
Familiarity with sustainable agricultural practices and organic farming methods is a plus.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse team.
Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work in a physically demanding outdoor environment, as well as adapt to seasonal demands.
Proficiency in basic computer applications and record-keeping software.
