This farm is only 10 minutes away from Smithton and also is about an hours drive west of Burnie which has all the essential services available with many recreational activities on offer, along withcafes and restaurants.This farm is 320ha of effective pasture, well drained, with 145ha under three centre pivot & K line irrigation systems.
Milking a peak number 1,150 cows through a 50-bail rotaryshed, this farm has ACR's, auto teat spray and auto drafting with an EasyDairy computer system.This farm is 100% Spring calving beginning early to mid-August.The herd is mixed size with medium frame X-Bred cows.
We run a two-herd system with an easy entry & exit system and the farm is predominantly pasture based with pellets fed in the dairy.
Replacement heifers plus a portion of dry cows are agisted.Accommodation is available in a very comfortable family home along with a vehicle included in the package and there could be opportunities for employment for your partner on one of our nearby farms, if required.As Farm Manager you will need to be a team player creating an environment where people can develop to help achieve desired outcomes.
You will have well developed pasture management and animal husbandry skills and understand the demands of large-scale dairy farming.
Safety will be at the forefront of everything you do.Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, you will:Ensure safe operations across the property through the implementation of our Safety Management SystemManage and direct staff to achieve positive outcomesExhibit sound and accurate judgement to ensure the highest standards of animal health and welfareReport on farm plans and inventoryPaddock inspection estimating quality and availability of pasturesImplement stock rotations and contribute to plans for future feed budgetsFeed management to support achievement of budgeted production targetsMonitor and maintain water and fencingMaintain accurate stock, treatment, and feeding recordsOperate and maintain plant and equipmentCoordinate contractors for required fertiliser, hay/silage making activitiesAdhere to company policies and safe work procedures.QualificationsThe desired skills and experience for this opportunity are:You will be an energetic, and self-motivated individual with strong cattle and pasture management skills, who is keen to get stuck in and get the job done.
