ABOUT THE ORGANISATIONinTouch Multicultural Centre Against Family Violence (inTouch) provides person-centered, integrated and culturally responsive family violence services to people from migrant and refugee communities across Victoria. We have assisted over 30,000 women and children experiencing family violence throughout our 40 years of operation, providing a holistic service that centres the experiences of victim-survivors in everything we do.
inTouch works across the family violence continuum, providing culturally informed early intervention, case management, programs for men who use violence, legal advice, crisis recovery and enhanced capacity-building across the sector and community. We are proud to provide high-level leadership and guidance to all levels of government with our evidence-based, victim-survivor informed advocacy and policy work.
We are a unique and vital service, with specialist expertise working with people of migrant and refugee backgrounds. This is reflected in our workforce, which is comprised primarily of people who are migrants and refugees themselves – the inTouch team is from over 20 different countries and communities globally.
ABOUT THE ROLEThe Family Violence Practitioner (Case Manager) works with a degree of autonomy, exercising initiative and judgement to support and manage clients experiencing family violence through the life cycle of the client's engagement with inTouch. Their role is to access, monitor, plan and manage cases, as well as advocating for and linking women who are experiencing family violence to appropriate services. They work closely with staff from other agencies to ensure the client's needs can be addressed in an integrated and coordinated manner.
Whilst the majority of casework is done by phone, the Practitioner is required to travel and provide face-to-face support and/or outreach as required.
ABOUT THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTSocial Work qualification or equivalent as required for working within the Family Violence sectorYour ability to fluently speak in Dari, Farsi, Persian, Pashto, Hazaragi, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu or GujaratiDemonstrated experience within the specialist family violence sector or working with those who have been impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence (telephone counselling advantageous)Understanding of the specialist family violence sector in VictoriaDemonstrated understanding of Multi Agency Risk Assessment (MARAM) Framework training and its application in the context of Crisis Services or the willingness to undergo training at employment startUnderstanding of contemporary family violence practice including the gendered nature of violence, social justice principles, crisis intervention and working with trauma.Knowledge of state-based legislation that pertains to family violence, privacy and child protection legislation relevant to service deliveryDemonstrated ability to work in a challenging and demanding environment, including working within agreed timeline parametersExcellent oral and written communication skills including ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of cultural and social groupsAbility to remain calm under pressure, with a flexible and positive approachA high level of resilience and self-care practices in placePersonal Attributes Ability to manage competing prioritiesAdaptable to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processesHOW TO APPLYPlease apply with your resume and a short cover letter referring to the key selection criteria in the Position Description found here.
