An amazing opportunity exists for a passionate individual to join our dedicated Community Services and Partnerships team at the City of Kwinana. This is a part-time position reporting to the Community Partnerships Specialist and working alongside a quality team of professionals. Recognising the critical role of family support in shaping the future of children and families in Kwinana, this position works closely with the City's Early Years Officer and early childhood sector to ensure families are supported and linked to critical services across the greater Kwinana region. As our new Family Support Officer (50D), your primary focus will be to develop and deliver our Early Years Strategy, partnering with the community to make informed decisions that address community needs.
What You'll Need
To make an impact in this pivotal role, you will have…
• Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent – this is a genuine requirement for this position under (Section 50(d) of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act 1984).
• Minimum 2 years' experience working in the community/social services sector.
• Strong communication, networking and relationship building skills with an ability to engage with diverse audiences.
• Well organised with an ongoing commitment to supporting parents, caregivers and families.
• Experienced in developing and maintaining relationships with social services and families.
• Sound knowledge and experience in working with Aboriginal families, in particular across the South-West Metro region.
• Experience in community and stakeholder engagement.
• Considerable experience in program delivery, including planning, organising and evaluating experiences for families and young children.
• Experience in advocating for family support services across the social services sector.
• The ability to obtain Working With Children's and Police Clearance.
• A current non-restricted driver's licence.
