About the roleTo meet with our increasing demand, we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Dispute Resolution Practitioner to join our Mediation team to work across our Family Dispute Resolution, Legally Assisted Family Dispute Resolution and Workplace Mediation and Facilitation services. These programs are delivered by a combination of face-to-face, outreach and telehealth.This role is permanent part-time (3-4 days per week). It will be well suited where you may need flexibility as part of your broader professional activities or in managing your work/life balance.Dispute Resolution Practitioners (DRPs) provide a range of interventions to:families that are experiencing conflict and are unable to reach agreement regarding arrangements in relation to parenting their children, and/or a financial settlement of their property.organisations that are experiencing conflict with individuals in their workplace or organisation.Key Responsibility Areas:Mediation intake, risk assessment and suitability screeningMaintaining mediation and Family Dispute Resolution service to clients from referral to closure as appropriate, including all clinical and administrative tasks of casesConducting mediation utilising a variety of models depending on the needs of the clientProviding a range of interventions to families who are experiencing conflict post-separation and are unable to reach agreement regarding parenting arrangements for their childrenApplication of high-level knowledge of Family Law, parenting arrangements, financial and property issuesProvide information to clients and potential clients about other options upon separation, including information about counselling, adult education programs (parenting), legal and other optionsManage sensitive and complex issues with clients in high conflictRefer clients to other services (internal and external) as requiredManage all administrative skills including agreement and report writing to a high level and in a timely mannerMaintenance of personal proficiency around the use of technologies and client databases required in the work of Positive SolutionsOther duties which may include mediation, facilitation and service promotion consistent with the incumbent's skills where required and/or requested by the Chief Executive Officer or Operations Manager from time to time.Who we are looking forWe are seeking a flexible and professional practitioner who is committed to maintaining professional practice and providing culturally sensitive services that aim to make a difference to your client's wellbeing. You are motivated by establishing respectful, meaningful, inclusive and collaborative relationships with your clients and our team.To be successful in this role you will hold:Essential:Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute ResolutionCurrent registration as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney General's DepartmentExperience working in a solo mediation model, and the ability to work as a co-mediatorCurrent knowledge of Family Law and the relevant FDR regulations and guidelinesUnderstanding of the impact of family separation on children and parentsDemonstrated skills in managing high parental conflictExperience in working with clients from diverse cultural backgroundsComprehensive understanding of the impact of Domestic and Family Violence on familiesExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including agreement and report writing.Desirable:Cert IV Mediation Skills (or higher)Training in Property and Financial Settlement (or willingness to obtain)NMAS accreditationTertiary qualifications in lawTraining in child Inclusive practiceBenefitsA friendly, supportive work environment, where work-life balance is prioritisedAccess to additional paid time off annuallyAccess to in-house supervisionSupport for professional developmentRemuneration will be under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Award with salary commensurate to experience and hours worked.
