We are looking for someone to join our team in a newly created role as part of the Head to Health Kids hub. This role is ideal for someone who has their own lived experience of caring for a young family member(s) experiencing emerging mental health challenges. 
The position is a fixed term four-year contract, permanent part-time, working 12 hours per week (days and times negotiable). The role is a SCHADS Level 3.1 and will primarily be based out of Parkerville office in Midland.

Offering early intervention and comprehensive care through a multidisciplinary approach, the Kids Hub is here to make a real difference for kids facing mild to moderate mental health challenges. The Kids Hub is a free service with a no-wrong-door approach, providing step-up, step-down support for children and their families for as long as they require.
The Kids Hub is an initiative of the Mental Health Commission and is run by Parkerville in a consortium of partners consisting of Koya, Lifespan Psychology, MIFWA and Pregnancy to Parenthood (P2P).
The Role  To work collaboratively with and assist parents who have a child or children under the age of 12, living with emerging mental health concerns. To work in conjunction with the Kids Hub multidisciplinary team to enhance the mental health, general wellbeing, and recovery journeys of parents their family.To provide individual peer support and/ or appropriate agency or service referral to families. Facilitate discussion with families regarding the individual's strengths, needs and goals and collaboratively develop a support plan.Mental Health Family Peer Worker will employ a range of strategies and skills including encouragement, active listening, providing information, and basic self-care advice, as required.Lead the facilitation of groups/ activities for families attending the Head to Health Kids Hub.Providing direct support to families and individuals attending Head to Health Kids Hub participants through the development of trusting and professional relationships that respect peer worker and participant boundaries.  Does this sound like you You have personal lived experience of caring for a young family member experiencing mental health issues You can understand how to appropriately use your lived experience of mental health issues to mentor and support people You self-reflect and continuously review your work practicesYou have an understanding of mental health system and issuesYou are a people person, and can engage with a variety of people (even when someone is considered hard to get to know or having a bad day)You follow through and take responsibility for your actions.You have great communication skills We are seeking someone to commence mid-December and must be available 20th-24th January for induction and training in preparation for The Head to Health Kids Hub opening on 28th January 2025
