We are seeking people interested in learning about tenancy and are available for relief shifts at our adult and youth Supported Accommodation sites (Devonport, Ulverstone and Burnie). Anglicare Tasmania is a non-profit organisation providing a wide range of community services to the people of Tasmania. We are part of the national Anglicare Australia network of organisations. Anglicare advocates for social justice and aids people in times of need. We provide programs relating to health, housing, families, drug and alcohol treatment and support and more.
About the role: Anglicare's Housing and Homelessness Services provide a range of programs across the State supporting people to establish and maintain safe, stable, long-term housing
The Facility Supervisor is responsible for signing and managing issues relating to tenant leases abiding by the Residential Tenancy Act. The role is also responsible for maintaining the grounds and garden, undertaking minor maintenance and cleaning the communal areas, office spaces and vacated units. While the Facility Supervisor (Lodge) works in conjunction with the on-site cook to provide meals to tenants.
These positions require 'overnight stays' (sleepovers) providing an emergency response to tenants after hours as required.
The successful applicant will:
A knowledge of the issues pertaining to people experiencing homelessness and a conceptual understanding of the social and political context in which they occur and the concept of and issues associated with communal living.Sound understanding of relevant legislation including the Residential Tenancy Act 1997 and occupational health and safety requirements or willingness to develop these through participation in training including a sound understanding of quality assurance measures and their role in improving services provided for tenants.Good time management skills with the ability to effectively set priorities and manage resident's issues and ability to plan and implement general cleaning and maintenance duties.High level interpersonal and verbal communication skills including the ability to conduct interviews and assessments and facilitate mediation and conflict resolution processes.Well-developed computer and written communication skills including the ability to prepare and write reports and collect accurate data and complete evaluations.Sound knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding privacy and confidentiality, resident feedback and participation and their application to practice.Experience working in the housing sector or in a communal living facility is preferred.For further information about this position please contact Rebekka Gale, Manager - Youth 2 Independence Facilities on 0491 216 *** or ****** during business hours.
The successful applicant will be required to: provide a current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment/volunteer category) including NDIS Worker Screening Check;present an unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable people type National Police Check (no older than 12 months);provide an International Police Check if you have resided for 12 months or more outside of Australia after the age of 16;provide a satisfactory Anglicare assessed medical;provide a current provisional or full Australian Driver's Licence.On commencement the successful applicant will be required to undertake our structured Safeguarding Children Training program.
