The Position The Facilities and Maintenance Manager role is to oversee and manage all aspects of building and grounds maintenance, facility improvements, and contractor processes.
This role is critical in ensuring that maintenance activities align with the strategic goals of the College, ensuring safety, compliance with regulations, and optimal use of resources.
The manager will lead a cohesive team, coordinate projects to minimise disruption, handle financial management of maintenance expenditures, and support the College community by ensuring that facilities are well-maintained, safe, and ready for various events and activities.
About You You are a highly organised and experienced Facilities and Maintenance Manager with a solid background in managing building systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
Your proven ability to lead high-performing teams, combined with strong project management skills, ensures you can oversee complex facility improvement projects while meeting safety and compliance standards.
You excel at balancing multiple priorities, managing budgets, and working with contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective outcomes.
Your passion for maintaining a safe, efficient, and sustainable environment, along with your commitment to Mercy values, will support the College's mission in creating a positive and well-maintained campus community.
Key Selection Criteria Experience: Relevant Experience: Several years of experience in facilities management, maintenance, or a related fieldExperience in a supervisory or managerial roleTechnical Expertise: Experience with various building systems and maintenance tasks.
Practical knowledge of facility management softwareProject Management Experience: Experience in overseeing and executing facility improvement projects, including renovations and upgradesVendor Management: Experience working with and managing external contractors and service providersBudget Management: Experience in managing large budgets for maintenance operations and understanding cost control.Qualifications Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering, construction management, or a related field is required.
An associate degree or relevant certifications combined with extensive experience may also be acceptableCertifications: Professional certifications and licences will enhance credibility and skills.Understanding of the principles of a Catholic community organisationContinuing education: staying updated with the latest trends, technologies, and regulations in facilities management through workshops, courses, and professional development opportunities.This position requires a current Police Check, Employee Working with Children Check and Driver's license.
