About Cadia
Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.

Workplace Type: Onsite About The Role The External Communications Advisor supports the External Relations team in managing Newmont Australia's external communications. This role includes managing media inquiries and announcements at Cadia, as well as other sites across Australia.
The Advisor will also support the development of a proactive Media and Communications Strategy across our three sites which focuses on direct communication and media. The Strategy will govern the development of communications material including site reports, internal and external communications, award submissions, fact sheets and presentations as required.
The successful candidate will join a high-performing team and will be expected to maintain a proactive attitude while focusing on continuous improvement in this role. Additionally, the role offers opportunities for domestic travel.
We are looking for a candidate that is creative and has a high level of attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities: Work with the External Relations team to identify and develop written and visual content to promote activities of our three sites across Australia.Develop an External Media and Communications Strategy, focusing on executing effective media and communications targeting key media stakeholders and the local community.Develop and manage an efficient and responsive crisis management program, focusing on delivery of communications, engagement activities and media management.Regularly monitor media coverage to identify any proactive media opportunities for Newmont, as well as alert leadership team of any significant and/or sensitive issues affecting Newmont and our brand.Support the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of advertising campaigns.Support senior staff in media performance and presentation.Drive and nurture ongoing relationships with key media stakeholders to support each site's reputation.Contribute to campaign materials, presentations, speeches and social media content as required.The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and communication skills, demonstrated experience in external communications and liaising with local and national media and delivering on a range of communication mediums.
You will also possess the following:
Bachelor qualification in journalism/public relations/communications (or equivalent).Demonstrated experience in journalism/communications/public relations, preferably in an industry/resource sector field (or transferable skills).Experience in delivering targeted, effective communication across multiple communications platforms.Proven experience in media management, including drafting media releases and editorials, holding statements and developing briefing documents for senior management.Drivers licence (manual), or commitment to learning to drive a manual.Please note: This is a hybrid full time position based in Orange, NSW.
