The Opportunity We are seeking expressions of interest for an Independent Director to join a dynamic and impactful board.
With a clear focus on Workforce Planning, Training Product Development, Implementation, Promotion and Monitoring and Industry Stewardship in the energy sector .
This role offers a platform to shape policies and initiatives critical to Australia's clean energy transition.
As part of a dedicated Board, you will play a key role in governance, oversight, and strategic planning, ensuring the organisation continues to meet its objectives while fostering innovation and collaboration.
Ideal Candidate Profile The successful candidate will demonstrate: Leadership: Demonstrated experience as a Board Chair or Committee Chair, with a strong ability to lead and influence at a strategic level Industry Expertise: A professional background in energy or renewable energy sector and a working knowledge of the vocational education system Board Experience: Proven experience as a director or chair on professional boards, particularly in audit, risk, or governance committees Independence: Must not hold an executive or officers' position or have a financial interest or is in a senior decision-making role in the Member organisation in which they are employed Additional advantages include: Experience with Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) or an association with Australia's energy system Familiarity with renewable, electrotechnology, or clean energy sectors An understanding of the challenges facing the industry which includes diversifying the workforce and developing training programs to meet the future demands of the sector Strong governance acumen and an understanding of compliance requirements Commitment Board meetings are held every two months, and preparation typically requires 4–6 hours of work to review materials.
You may also be required to sit on Board Sub-Committees.
Additionally, there may be opportunities for direct engagement with policymakers, including meetings with Ministers.
Application Process The position is subject to: Review and approval of nomination by Founding Members Police, bankruptcy, and conflict checks A selection process culminating in Independent Director elections by 12 Voting Members of the organisation Key dates: Nominations close 6th January 2025.
