Since its redevelopment in 2020, it has become the region's leading public gallery, showcasing thought-provoking exhibitions by local, national, and international artists.
We are seeking an Exhibitions and Programs Officer to play a key role in bringing our vision to life. In this position, you'll work closely with the Manager, Art Gallery, to shape and deliver captivating exhibitions and public programs that inspire and engage our diverse communities. Your creativity and attention to detail will shine as you support the development, installation, and maintenance of exhibitions, as well as plan and execute events that make contemporary art accessible to all. Please note - The UniSC Art Gallery operates six days a week, with occasional evening and weekend work required. As a multi-campus university, UniSC may also require the successful incumbent to work at other campuses or sites. Additionally, possession of a current Queensland Driver's Licence is essential for this role.
About you You are a motivated and adaptable professional with the versatility to work independently or collaboratively to achieve strategic goals. Your exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills enable you to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, while your experience in writing about artworks adds depth to exhibitions. Proficient in office administration and Microsoft 365, you are also highly skilled in the safe handling of artworks and the installation and de-installation of exhibitions, always maintaining strict adherence to occupational health and safety standards.
You will possess: Knowledge of industry best practices and standards and the gallery/museum sector; Demonstrated experience working in a gallery/museum with sound knowledge of exhibition delivery; Experience in project coordination including the ability to plan projects effectively and achieve desired outcomes; Experience in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop is desirable.
